The Culinary Institute of Virginia was invited to participate in First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move Campaign and attend a meeting on the South Lawn of the White House on June 4, 2010, which was also Graduation Day! Chef Jonathan Highfield and eight students attended the meeting designed to get culinary students involved in the Chefs Move to Schools component of the First Lady’s campaign.

The students will serve as Food and Nutrition Ambassadors to schools in the Hampton Roads area.Chef Highfield even made it back to Norfolk for the CIV graduation ceremony at the Harrison Opera House that evening…a great end to an exciting day!
