Hotel Management
Through innovative courses that are truly interactive, our Hotel Management students learn every facet of the industry. This major focuses on the fundamentals of hotel management, including guest service, front desk operations, and cost controls. Coursework focuses on managing the entire operation including front office management, housekeeping, marketing, convention services and sales, purchasing, human resource management, accounting, , and much more. Another shining aspect of Walnut Hill College’s programs is our World Cultures course, which prepares students to receive international business clients.
The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College creates an environment for students to experience situations such as the negotiation of room rates for a large convention, interviewing applicants for hourly and management positions, and the review of hotel balance sheets and profit and loss statements. Students virtually spend their days on campus as Hotel Managers. They grow as team leaders, event planners, business executives, and service professionals. This invaluable experience launches our students into successful hospitality careers in the world of hotels.
Our superior program culminates with our specially-designed Cruise and Resort Tour. All of our Hotel Management students participate in a week long, tuition-paid management tour of Walt Disney World®, central Florida resorts, and a cruise to the Bahamas. Students completing the Bachelor of Science program will have the opportunity to earn enough certifications from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Foundation to be designated as a Rooms Division Specialist.
Campus
The heart of The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College's campus is a picturesque European courtyard situated in the midst of an American college environment. The college's major building, Allison Mansion, features bright restaurant kitchens, multi-media enhanced lecture halls, computer labs, a library, and four different themed open-to-the-public restaurants, which serve as part of educational life. As the college grows and new buildings are added, the Mansion continues to serve as the hub of campus life.
The beautiful Allison Mansion houses faculty and administrative offices, as well as the bustling and inviting Pastry Shop and the elegant Great Chefs of Philadelphia Restaurant. The Atrium Building is home to three additional campus restaurants. A European piazza is recreated in the atrium with beautiful storefronts, cobblestone paths, and outdoor dining terraces. Within this setting are the college's restaurants, The International Bistro, The Italian Trattoria and The American Heartland.
Resource Center
The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College's Resource Center features computer labs and an extensive library featuring industry-related and general educational books and magazines to supplement in-class learning.
