About Instructors
Amy Malone is a graduate of the following schools of cake decorating: Wilton (in Chicago), Betty Newman May, John McNamara, Mary Howard, Roland Winbeckler, Frances Kuyper and Josepha Barloco. She has completed dozens of courses in specialized subjects such as candy making, vegetable sculpture, marzipan, gingerbread, gumpaste, and French cooking. She established the Amy Malone School of Cake Decorating in 1977; the school is a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals. Amy has also been a frequent guest instructor at L'Academie de Cuisine (Bethesda, MD) and the Culinary Arts Institute (Baltimore, MD). Outside the classroom, she has been a demonstrator at international conventions, appeared on numerous television programs (P.M. Magazine, A.M. Washington, Panorama, Morning Break, Good Morning Washington, Fred Thomas in the Morning, Sunday Morning San Diego, What's My Hobby), been featured in the Washington Post, The Evening Star, San Diego Union Tribune, The Daily Californian, American Cake Decorator Magazine, and was special consultant and demonstrator for Cakes, a Time-Life book in the "Good Cook" series.
