The Good Food awards were on Monday night and I felt there were not a lot of
surprises but was pleased that many of the chefs that teach at The Accoutrement
Cooking School were rewarded with hats. Tony Bilson - Bilsons, three hats;
Martin Boetz - Longrain, two hats; Mitchell Orr - The Duke received his first
hat and Serge Dansereau - Bathers’ Pavilion, one hat. My personal
congratulations to Terry Robinson from Sepia Restaurant who won The Josephine
Pignolet Young Chef of the Year award who will receive $3000.00 worth of Kai
Shun knives from Accoutrement.
Last night I went to Ross Lusted’s new restaurant - Bridge Room, 44 Bridge
Street and had an excellent meal. The duck was perfectly cooked and tender and
David’s Wagyu beef was outstanding. It’s not a large restaurant and there is
plenty of room between tables, I highly recommend this venue and think it would
be a great place for lunch as well.
