You will need to have an interest in food and creative flair. While academic ability is not a requirement for cooking school, you will need to have excellent communication skills and have a reasonable head for business. Much of what Chefs do is a management role and you may benefit from good business acumen to ensure that you are providing consumers with what they want at a profitable price with a minimum of waste. You will need to work well under pressure and be part of a team.
