Top Chefs are responsible for managing other staff in kitchens and producing food. This includes everything from producing ready cooked mass produced meals for a food store to being a Michelin starred Chef at an exclusive restaurant. As a Chef you may be responsible for ordering, and preparing raw ingredients as well as designing menus and managing sous chefs and other kitchen staff, depending on your ranking. You may find you work long hours to meet demand especially at weekends. Many Chefs work split shifts or 12 hour days to cope with demand. Experienced and creative Chefs may be awarded industry accolades such as Michelin stars or blue ribbons.
